about

In 2013, Scott Lawlor entered the modern ambient scene with a bang. One of his inaugural releases was the wonderful Times Escape, inspired by the sleep experiment music of Robert Rich, and recorded in the late Nineties. While listening to that piece, it is easy to imagine that even time itself could stop and reflect on its own existence.

We now come to 2015, and Scott has given us another piece of time. Though more minimal than its earlier cousin, this new work entitled Drone Excursion 009 (Suspension of Time), is no less compelling. With its constant drone, and its slowly, almost indiscernible movement, it is more than possible to imagine that time has become immersed in its own vastness. If time can indulge in some well deserved self-reflection, who are we mere mortals to let our minds get in the way of such transcendence? With Scott's usual brilliant melding of dark and light, this well-crafted entry into his Drone Excursion series is a must for all fans of ambient and drone music.
